Baker Donelson Loses Bid to Avoid Trial Over Timber Ponzi Scheme

Law firm Baker Donelson is potentially liable for investor losses in a timber Ponzi scheme through its relationship to an attorney and a lobbyist it employed, a federal court ruled.

The firm is also subject to trial on a direct claim against it for negligently retaining and supervising the two men, Judge Carlton W. Reeves said Tuesday for the US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
