Bain Struggles to Dismiss PowerSchool User Data Breach Claims

Bain Capital L.P. largely failed to persuade a California federal judge to dismiss data breach claims filed by individual users of PowerSchool who say there were victims of an about 50 million-person cyber incident.

Four orders Wednesday denied in part PowerSchool Holdings Inc.'s and Bain’s motions to dismiss against individuals and school districts. Bain had merged with PowerSchool and directed it to offshore cybersecurity functions to contractors, the plaintiffs alleged in the US District Court for the Southern District of California.
