Badia Spices Sued for Undisclosed Heavy Metals in Products

Another spice maker was hit with a proposed class suit over alleged undisclosed heavy metals, as an Ohio consumer alleged Badia Spices Inc.'s labeling omission led her to buy more than a dozen products, including Badia-branded basil, saffron, and pepper.

Sebrina Hill’s suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, said Badia touts itself as a company that cares for the well-being of its customers.

Yet numerous Badia spices contain heavy metals—including arsenic, cadmium, and lead—at levels above what is considered safe for children and adults, Hill alleged.
