Ahead of his resentencing, former celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti argued for a significantly reduced three-years in a California prison, while prosecutors said his 14-year sentence should remain mostly unchanged.
Avenatti’s argument hinges on testimony of work he’s done to support other inmates while in prison, including as a suicide watch companion, and an assertion that the previously unaccounted-for value of his legal services reduces the amount of funds his clients lost from his theft.
