An aftermarket performance auto parts distributor agreed to pay $3.6 million to resolve claims that it sold devices that defeated emissions controls, according to a consent decree.
The US said Turn 14 Distribution sold third party parts meant to evade internal controls that automakers design to ensure their cars comply with emissions standards. According to the decree—filed alongside the complaint in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania—Turn 14 would’ve struggled to pay a larger civil penalty.
