AutoNation Stuck With $2.5 Million Arbitration Loss for Age Bias

A former Porsche and Audi sales manager in Bellevue, Wash., can keep nearly $2.5 million an arbitrator awarded him for age discrimination by the dealer and its owner, AutoNation Inc., a federal judge ruled.

AutoNation and Auto Company XXI Inc., which does business as Porsche Bellevue, were wrong that the arbitrator exceeded her authority by not reducing the former employee’s back-pay damages to account for him being fired from a subsequent job, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said Monday.
