A $3.65 million class settlement in a suit over alleged benzene contamination in Brut and Sure antiperspirants got final approval from a federal judge but the plaintiffs’ attorneys were awarded only about a quarter of their requested fee.
Otto Delcid and others sued TCP Hot Acquisition LLC and Idelle Labs Ltd., challenging the products’ marketing.
Judge Denise L. Cote of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York approved the settlement April 28, but rejected the attorneys’ request for roughly $1.2 million in fees, saying the deal provides “limited relief of questionable value.”
