Asurion has reached a settlement with an employee who says a California franchise fired him a week into employment for having to take off work for cancer treatment.
The technology repair company used the pretext of an incomplete I-9 employment eligibility form to fire the worker after he informed his supervisor he needed to go to a doctor’s appointment, Matthew Doherty said. A notice of settlement was filed with the US District Court of the Northern District of California Wednesday.
