Astronomy Center to Pay Ex-Worker $130,000 in Reprisal Suit

An astronomy observatory operator agreed to pay a $130,000 judgment to resolve a retiree’s retaliation claims over the removal of his emeritus title.

Judge Norman K. Moon, of the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia, approved an offer of judgment signed by Associated Universities Inc. Thursday. James J. Condon sued AUI under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, alleging he was terminated after speaking out against its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
