Astro AI Inc. was accused in a proposed class action Thursday of selling a defective mini-fridge that poses a fire hazard because of a short circuit in the electrical switch.
Lead plaintiff David Freifeld is seeking to represent a nationwide class of consumers who purchased the company’s 4-Liter/6-can mini-fridge within the applicable limitations period.
Some 249,000 units sold between June 2019 and June 2022 were subject to a recall, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 70 overheating incidents, including two fires that caused “significant fire damage,” the complaint said.
