Assistance Ban for Naturalized Voters Invalid, Group Says

A voting rights group is suing the Trump administration over its move to stop nongovernmental organizations from helping naturalized citizens register to vote.

The National Council of Jewish Women, Greater New Orleans Section says that 2011 guidance from US Citizenship and Immigration Services had ensured that hundreds of thousands of newly naturalized citizens were able to vote as soon as they were entitled to do so, until Trump reversed the policy Aug. 29.
