Army Corps’ Approval of Texas Dredging Project Draws Lawsuit

The Army Corps of Engineers failed to take a required hard look before approving a dredging project in Texas that threatens local waters and the livelihoods of fishing families, environmental groups told a Washington federal court.

The lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia centers on actions associated with the Matagorda Ship Channel dredging project. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin within the next few months, and it will facilitate the development of a crude oil transportation terminal, according to the complaint.
