Arkansas Social Media Law Suit to Proceed With Limited Discovery

Tech industry group NetChoice LLC’s lawsuit seeking to block a youth-focused Arkansas social media law will continue with limited discovery, a federal judge ruled.

Judge Timothy Brooks granted in part and denied in part NetChoice’s motion to stay discovery and continue to summary judgment in the case over the state’s Social Media Safety Act in an opinion and order filed Sunday in the US District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.

Brooks said he was “unpersuaded” that limited discovery would impose undue hardship on NetChoice’s members, which include Meta Platforms Inc. and other major social media companies.
