Arkansas Gets Support of 33 States in Social Media Age-Check Row

A coalition of 33 states and the District of Columbia told a federal appeals court that Arkansas’ Social Media Safety Act, which requires age verification for accounts, is a constitutionally valid response to predatory business practices by platforms.

The amicus brief comes as Arkansas asks the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit to overturn a permanent injunction against the state’s social media regulation at the urging of tech industry group NetChoice. Florida’s Attorney General, James Uthmeier (R), submitted the brief.
