Arizona Hospital Beats Most Claims in Suit Over 2022 Data Breach

Arizona-based Yuma Regional Medical Center defeated all but one claim of a proposed class action alleging it negligently failed to protect the personal information of 700,000 patients that was exposed in a 2022 data breach.

The plaintiffs adequately pleaded their claims under the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act, but failed to state claims of negligence, breach of implied contract, unjust enrichment, and breach of fiduciary duty, Judge Susan M. Brnovich of the US District Court for the District of Arizona said Wednesday.
