Aramark Gets Initial Settlement Approval in Wage Class Lawsuit

Aramark Services Inc. and a class of employees got preliminary approval from a federal district court to settle allegations they were unlawfully forced to work through their breaks without pay.

The proposed class was also conditionally certified by the US District Court for the Northern District of California Tuesday after Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín ruled the class members satisfied Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23. The deal, if given final approval, would provide a gross amount of $95,000, which includes attorney’s fees of $23,750, up to $12,500 in costs, and a service award of $5,000 for lead plaintiff Lawrence Kelly Jr., ...
