Indiana-based Apria Healthcare LLC is poised to pay nearly $6.4 million to settle a proposed class action alleging it negligently failed to protect the personal information of nearly 1.9 million patients that was exposed in a 2021 data breach, under a deal given initial approval in federal court.
Under the deal, class members would be eligible for reimbursement of up to $2,000 in out-of-pocket expenses arising from the breach, and a pro-rata share of the settlement fund after deduction of out-of-pocket claims, attorneys’ fees and expenses, and the costs of administration, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval of ...
