Apple Website Incompatible With Screen Readers, Suit Claims

A visually impaired, legally blind Los Angeles resident is suing Apple Inc. because its website isn’t fully accessible to screen-reading technology that converts online content into formats such as speech or braille.

Barriers to accessing information and services on Apple’s website prevented plaintiff Pamela Hill from ordering Apple products online and deterred her from visiting Apple’s brick-and-mortar locations, which are places of public accommodation, the complaint filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court said.
