Settlement payments can now start in a $310 million settlement with Apple Inc. that resolved claims over alleged performance issues in older iPhones.

Objectors who challenged the deal have dropped their appeal of the decision that approved the settlement for the second time, meaning the distribution process can begin, plaintiffs’ attorney Mark C. Molumphy said Wednesday.

Consumers alleged Apple deliberately slowed certain older phones and reduced battery life through software updates.
