Apple released software patches in January 2018 to address device security for its iPhones and iPads stemming from the Spectre and Meltdown malware. Consumers alleged that the updates degraded processor performance by up to 50 percent.
But the consumers seeking to represent the class didn’t show they suffered enough harm to have standing to sue, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Jan. 2.
They’ll have another chance to show harm, though, the court said.
