Apple Airpod Hearing Loss Suit Snagged by Low Decibel Level

Apple Inc. is likely to escape a lawsuit related to hearing damage from its Airpods after a judge said scientific evidence doesn’t support a claim that the decibels emitted by an Amber Alert can permanently impair a child’s hearing.

Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley at a Wednesday hearing in San Francisco federal court seemed unconvinced that the case should proceed to trial based on allegations that a child received 113 decibels from an Airpod in one ear when an unexpected Amber Alert sound went off.
