Anti-DEI Group Unable to Block Illinois Demographic Data Law (1)

An advocacy group led by diversity, equity, and inclusion opponent Edward Blum failed to block a first-of-its kind Illinois law that requires nonprofits to publish employees’ demographic data, including race, gender, and sexual orientation.

American Alliance for Equal Rights lacks standing to allege a First Amendment violation because it didn’t show harm from the online publication of data, said Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman in a Wednesday order for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The group has 14 days to amend its complaint.
