Another Judge Pauses Trump Birthright Citizenship Order (2)

President Donald Trump‘s executive order limiting birthright citizenship must be paused because a certified class will be “irreparably harmed” if the order takes effect, and the public interest weighs in its favor, a federal judge said.

The decision by Judge Deborah L. Boardman of the US District Court for the District of Maryland to issue a classwide preliminary injunction blocking Trump’s mandate is just the latest in a string of judicial rulings blocking the president’s order—which denies automatic citizenship to US-born children of immigrants who entered the country illegally or have temporary legal status.
