Ameriprise Advisers Get Win in Sex Discrimination Suit Upheld

Three Ameriprise Financial Service Inc. advisers secured a win in a gender discrimination suit after the Fifth Circuit held Tuesday a district court had jurisdiction over the arbitration-related challenge even though the company itself wasn’t sued.

Financial adviser Denise Badgerow, who worked for REJ Properties Inc. between January 2014 and July 2016, arbitrated claims against Ameriprise and three of its independent franchise advisers.

She claimed she received less compensation, was exposed to a hostile work environment, and was bullied, because of her gender. She also said she was retaliated against for complaining about her treatment.
