American Greetings Merchandiser Gets Trial Over Supermarket Kiss

American Greetings Corp. must face trial on a former merchandiser’s claim that she was sexually harassed while servicing client Jewel-Osco, including being subjected to a “disgusting” kiss.

But New Albertson’s Inc., which does business as Jewel-Osco, was entitled to summary judgment on Laurie Albright’s sexual harassment claim against it, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said. The ruling is an example of the considerations a court often must make in cases involving alleged third-party harassment.
