American Airlines Hit With Investor Suit Over Sales Strategy

American Airlines Group Inc. executives are facing a lawsuit claiming they made positive statements to investors about a failing post-pandemic sales strategy.

The derivative complaint was filed by an American shareholder, George Leon, Thursday in the US District Court for Northern District of Texas.

In 2022 the company pushed customers away from corporate booking agencies and towards buying through American’s website in an effort to pare down debts accrued during the pandemic, the complaint says. But the strategy backfired by alienating the company’s must lucrative customers, creating a drop in revenue, the complaint says.
