American Airlines Hit With Credit Card Validation Patent Suit

Advanced Transactions LLC sued American Airlines Inc. alleging it violates patents for validating credit cards over a wireless network.

The suit, filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas June 16, comes eight days after American filed a declaratory judgment action in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas seeking a ruling that it hasn’t infringed any of the patents belonging to Advanced Transactions.

The patents allow a wireless user to obtain credit card verification “via an interactive message without requiring specialized application development.”
