Amazon to Face Fired 71-Year-Old Warehouse Worker’s Bias Lawsuit

Amazon.com Services LLC failed to defeat a Utah warehouse employee’s claim that his termination for alleged safety violations was really a cover for discrimination based on his age—71.

Amazon argued Viacheslav Tarasov’s allegations under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act failed because they didn’t assert bias was the “but-for” cause of his firing. But Tarasov’s assertions that younger employees exited the company’s parking lot in a similar manner but, unlike him, weren’t cited for speeding and terminated give rise to an inference that Tarasov’s age was a factor in Amazon’s decision, the US District Court for the District of Utah ...
