Amazon Sees Black Female Manager Advance Some Bias, Pay Claims

A Black woman can pursue some claims alleging Amazon Web Services Inc. discriminated against her in hiring, pay, and promotions, compared to her White and male colleagues, a Washington federal judge ruled.

Charlotte Newman said she was recruited for a level seven manager position on Amazon’s public policy team but was ultimately hired at level six. It took her three years to be elevated to L7 even though she was soon performing work at or above that level.
