Amazon Must Face Suit From Worker Fired After Leave Extensions

Amazon.com Services LLC must face claims by a former employee who says she was fired due to disability bias, a federal judge said.

Amazon did not specify why the claims should be dismissed, the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida said. The court rejected Amazon’s argument that the employee it terminated after her request to extend medical leave had exhausted her ” requisite administrative remedies.” The employee sued under the Family Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disability Act after she was terminated in 2021 following taking leave for a disability.
