Amazon Must Defend Sex Discrimination, Wage and Hour Claims

An Amazon.com Inc. unit failed to trim a proposed class action filed in a California federal court by a female employee alleging the retailer retaliated against her for filing a wage discrimination complaint with the state’s labor agency.

Leilani Kryzhanovskiy may proceed with her California Unfair Competition Law claims because the injunctive relief she seeks—requiring payment of overtime and payment of female employees at rates equal to males—is “purely prospective,” the US District Court for the Eastern District of California at Sacramento said.
