Amazon Employee’s Suit to Get Jury Look at Weight Pushing Limits

A jury must decide if Amazon.com Inc. failed to accommodate a California warehouse worker whose back injury limited his ability to push more than 50-60 pounds, a federal judge ruled.

A trial is needed even though it’s undisputed Chase Nelson was moved from his Sacramento facility’s “pick” department to receiving, the US District Court for the Eastern District of California said. An employer’s obligation to accommodate a worker with a disability is ongoing and isn’t extinguished by a single attempt to adjust their situation to keep them working, the court said.
