Amazon, Employee Settle Bias Class Action Over Attendance Policy

Amazon.com Services LLC reached a deal with a former employee to end a proposed class action alleging its attendance policy discriminates against workers with disabilities.

Amazon and Robert Gillard filed a notice of settlement March 20 in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Gillard alleged he was terminated from his job as a fulfillment associate after returning from medical leave due to the online retailer’s attendance policy. Amazon provides employees with a certain amount of time off, and workers accrue attendance points for absences during approved medical, military, and other protected leave, Gillard’s complaint alleged. ...
