Amazon Defeats White Entrepreneur’s Suit Over Diversity Grants

A White woman lost her class lawsuit challenging an Amazon.com Inc. program under which only certain minority business owners are eligible for $10,000 grants to cover start-up costs related to becoming Amazon delivery service partners.

The ruling Thursday by the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas shows the failure to apply for a program or job can doom claims of race or other types of discrimination. In such situations, courts frequently find a plaintiff lacks standing to sue because they can’t point to the actual or imminent injury required under the US Constitution.
