Amazon.com Hit With Class Action Over Wages for New Hire Events

A former Amazon employee has filed a proposed class action against the e-commerce giant, alleging the company failed to pay wages for mandatory pre-shift work orientation and onboarding activities.

Robert Fodor claims Amazon.com Inc. and Amazon.com Services LLC required him and other hourly employees to attend unpaid “New Hire Events” lasting at least 30 minutes after being hired but before their first scheduled shift.

During these events held at Amazon facilities, Fodor and other workers were under the company’s control and had to perform tasks like job training, watching work videos, and creating employee photo IDs, according to the complaint ...
