Altria Settles Juul Marketing-to-Minors Claims for $45.5 Million

Altria Group Inc. won final approval for a $45.5 million deal settling claims that it deceptively marketed Juul e-cigarette products to minors who hadn’t previously smoked by downplaying risks.

The US District Court for the Northern District of California granted final approval of the settlement Thursday. The court didn’t designate attorneys’ fees in its approval order.

The Altria settlement follows a Juul Labs Inc. settlement for $255 million to resolve claims in more than 1,800 youth vaping suits that had been consolidated in a multidistrict litigation. That agreement won final approval in September 2023, and the court previously authorized up ...
