Aldi Sued for Shorting Coffee Drinkers on Number of Cups in Can

Aldi Inc. and two coffee roasters shortchange consumers of Beaumont ground coffee products by overstating how much coffee the canisters can make, a new would-be class suit in an Illinois federal court alleges.

Monday’s complaint against grocery chain Aldi is the latest in a group of suits alleging coffee companies systematically misrepresent containers’ contents. Kraft Heinz Foods Co. recently agreed to a $16 million settlement to resolve allegations concerning certain Maxwell House and Yuban products.

Eileen Brodsky alleges she bought Beaumont coffee, relying on a label that said the canister will “MAKE[] UP TO 210 6 OZ CUPS.”
