Agencies Appeal Order That Requires Legal Aid for Immigrant Kids

The Trump administration has appealed a court order that temporarily blocks it from freezing legal aid funds for migrant children.

The Departments of the Interior and Health and Human Services, and the Office of Refugee Resettlement, a part of HHS, on Wednesday appealed the Tuesday order from Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, who granted a preliminary injunction requiring the government to keep funding 11 nonprofit groups that provide legal services for unaccompanied immigrant children. The appeal moves the case to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
