Advocacy Groups Denied Access to Guantanamo Migrant Detainees

A group of immigrant advocacy organizations lost their bid Friday for a temporary restraining order forcing the federal government to allow legal service groups access to immigrants detained at US facilities in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The plaintiffs, advocacy groups and family members of Guantanamo detainees, failed to show an existing threat of imminent irreparable harm because no migrants are currently being detained at the facility, Judge Carl J. Nichols of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said during a hearing.
