Adobe Fails to Escape FTC Suit Over Subscription Cancellations

Adobe Inc. failed to win a court order dismissing a lawsuit from the US government alleging the software company makes it too difficult for customers to cancel pricey subscriptions.

Judge Noel Wise of the US District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that the Federal Trade Commission’s lawsuit made sufficient allegations that Adobe violated federal law by deceiving customers about its subscription policies and cancellation fees.

The process for canceling a subscription to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, which includes its flagship Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator products, is far from simple, Wise said.
