Bans on gender-confirming medical care for minors began in Arkansas and must end there, ACLU attorneys said in advance of a two-week bench trial set to start Oct. 17.
The case, in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, tests the constitutionality of the nation’s first-ever prohibition on medically necessary treatment for transgender youths, Chase Strangio, the American Civil Liberties Union’s Deputy Director for Transgender Justice, said during an ACLU press conference on Thursday.
