Accounting Firm Beats Suit Over Role in Hollywood Ponzi Scheme

Spiegel Accountancy Corp. and the father-son team who run it convinced a Northern California federal judge to dismiss claims that they participated in a Hollywood actor’s Ponzi scheme, an order filed Tuesday says.

The dismissal comes after eight months of litigation on claims that Spiegel aided Zachary Horwitz in his scheme to defraud investors by serving as his placement agent for fraudulent promissory notes, according to the order.
