Absolute Dental to Pay $3.3 Million to Settle Data Breach Suit

Absolute Dental Group LLC agreed to pay $3.3 million to resolve allegations that the Nevada-based dental practice failed to protect the personal information of more than 1.2 million people that was exposed in a data breach, according to a proposed deal filed in federal court.

Class members would be eligible for up to $5,000 in reimbursements for documented losses arising from the February breach or a pro rata payment from the net settlement fund, according to the plaintiffs’ Dec. 19 motion for preliminary settlement approval.
