An abortion rights measure summary slated to be on the New York ballot in November contains confusing and misleading language that doesn’t accurately portray the measure’s scope, a lawsuit argues.
The New York State Board of Elections showed a “blatant disregard” for the state’s election law, which requires summaries of statewide ballot measures to be written in plain language at an eighth-grade reading level that “identifies the practical outcome of each election result,” says the complaint, filed Friday in the Albany County Supreme Court.
