Abbott Laboratories settled a proposed Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act class suit brought by a worker who alleged that the healthcare company asked about his family’s history of diabetes.

Plaintiff Quentin Nixon-Cobb’s claim in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois was part of a series of lawsuits against employers who requested applicants provide them with their family medical history.
