700Credit Sued Over Data Breach Impacting 5.8 Million People

700Credit has faced a number of lawsuits stemming from reports that cybercriminals may have accessed the sensitive personal information of more than 5.8 million people in October.

One lawsuit filed Sunday by a Texas resident in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said Social Security numbers and addresses were compromised in the cybersecurity event. The complaint alleged that because of 700Credit’s negligence, victims will be at the mercy of cybercriminals going forward.
