$500 Million Sought For Puerto Rico Steel Price-Fixing Scheme

A class of contractors wants $500 million from a group of steel distributors for artificially inflating steel prices in Puerto Rico, violating federal antitrust and anti-monopoly laws, according to a new lawsuit Wednesday.

Tiger Group LLC said that four steel rebar suppliers and three of their executives violated the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, and Puerto Rican antimonopoly laws, according to their complaint. The defendant companies include Aceros de America Inc., Carolina Building Materials Inc., Carolina Building LLC, and Steel Services & Supplies Inc.
