Senate Confirms John Squires as Patent Office Director (Correct)

The US Senate confirmed John Squires as director of the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Squires was confirmed 51 to 47 on party lines Thursday as part of a single Senate vote to approve dozens of President Donald Trump’s nominees. The vote occurred after Republicans pushed a change in Senate rules to speed up the nominations process.

Squires was previously a partner at Dilworth Paxson, where he led the firm’s emerging companies and IP team. He’s worked at three other law firms, as well as at Honeywell and as chief intellectual property counsel at Goldman Sachs. While in private practice, ...
