Chief Information Security Officers Evolving Into Chief Risk Officers

The changing responsibilities of the corporate chief information security officer mean the CISO role is evolving into that of a chief information risk officer (CIRO), someone who must be on the lookout for threats within and beyond the company, cybersecurity professionals said April 22 at the RSA Conference 2015 in San Francisco.

The CISO title tends to mean someone who is responsible for physical security as well information security, James Christiansen, vice president of information risk management for cybersecurity company Accuvant Inc., said during a conference session.
