Judicial Security Bill Cleared in Defense Authorization (1)

A long-stalled measure to protect judges’ personal information online was included in the defense authorization bill sent to President Joe Biden.

The measure, which was folded into the military policy bill (H.R. 7900) that was cleared by the Senate on Thursday, is named in honor of a federal judge’s son who was killed at their family home.

“This bill strengthens our democracy and ensures that federal judges can perform their solemn duty of administering equal justice under the law without fear of retaliation,” said the sponsors, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.).
